The Great Work of Our Time Livestream with John D. Liu (replay)

by John Allen

The BirdHouse has the honor of announcing our collaboration in the first episode of the livestream event series, known as The Great Work of Our Time, along with John D. Liu and Woodshed Gardens and Studio.

The BirdHouse is featured twice in the livestream, with a Band of Singers performance at 01:35:05 and John Allen speaking about the BirdHouse at 04:44:20.

This is just the first of a series of what will be ‘deep dives’ into the work being done globally in Regenerative Agriculture, Water Cycle repair, Education, Ocean Restoration, Alternative Economic models, and the growing number of Ecosystem Restoration Camps around the world.

If you haven’t already, we invite you to watch the luminaries of human and ecological restoration who have come together to introduce us to their inspiring work.

John D. Liu is a force to behold. His calm voice and endearing demeanor captivated our attention with tales of his work around the world, facilitating and documenting ecological restoration projects, for which he’s been a spokesperson for 30 years.

John Liu was invited to speak here in Los Angeles by our friends and collaborators, Linda Gibbs of Woodshed Gardens, and Carry Kim of the Soil Sponge Collective, at what became the very moment of COVID-19 shutdown. The night of his arrival, after his speaking engagement had been canceled, and we realized he would be ‘stuck here’ for a while, we were inspired to do something epic to mark the moment. Seven of us sat at a ‘social distance’ for eight hours, long enough to collectively pound out the makings of the five-hour livestream event dubbed the Great Work of Our Time.

This livestream does feel like the beginning of something epic; it introduced thousands of online viewers to real-world examples of what’s truly possible in this time of great change.

Be inspired. Get engaged. Stay connected.

Find out what you can do, with what you have, wherever you are.

See below for a list of the participants and the different topics that were introduced, as well as a list of links to  their organizations.
